چکیده

Explosive welding (EXW) has advantages in joining metallurgically incompatible metals due to its high quality and simple process. Successful titanium/steel clad plates fabricated by explosive have been extensively reported recent years. However, no research on the fabrication of explosively welded TA2/15CrNi3MoV effect subsequent heat treatment processes plates. This study aims clarify microstructure evolution mechanical behavior during The were heat-treated temperature range 700–1000 °C for 30 min. results elucidated that process accelerated interdiffusion constituent elements (e.g., Fe, Ti, C) at interface, which formed FeTi, Fe2Ti, TiC. For samples 700 °C, a continuous TiC layer was generated hampered formation FeTi Fe2Ti. 800 broken up, resulted significant increase Fe-Ti 1.21 μm. dramatically dropped tensile strength 329.2 MPa. 900–1000 thickness brittle increased caused rapid drop strength.

THE FORMATION OF TiAl3 DURING HEAT TREATMENT IN EXPLOSIVELY WELDED Ti-Al MULTILAYERS

Metallic-intermetallic laminate (MIL) composites are promising materials for structural applications especially in the aerospace industry. One of the interesting laminate composites is the Ti-TiAl 3 multilayer. In this work, commercially pure sheets of aluminum and titanium with almost equal thickness of around 0.5 mm were explosively joined. The achieved multilayers were annealed at 630 ℃in di...

Investigation of Standoff Distance Effect on Corrosion Behavior of Explosively Welded Joint between Two Aluminum Plates and Steel

In the present research, the effect of standoff distance on corrosion properties of the joint of three aluminum–steel explosive layers has been studied. For this purpose, the samples were welded with various standoff distance under constant explosive load. Optical Microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy were used to measure the quality of the joint and type of interface. Furthermore, point ...

Mechanical and interfacial characterization of laser welded Co-Cr alloy with different joint configurations

PURPOSE The mechanical and interfacial characterization of laser welded Co-Cr alloy with two different joint designs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Dumbbell cast specimens (n=30) were divided into 3 groups (R, I, K, n=10). Group R consisted of intact specimens, group I of specimens sectioned with a straight cut, and group K of specimens with a 45° bevel made at the one welding edge. The microstructur...

Effect of Heat Input on Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of AISI 304 Welded Joint Via MIG Welding

In this experimental work, AISI 304 was welded via metal inert gas (MIG) welding process with Argon (Ar) as shielding gas. In the present study, AISI 304 was subjected to different heat input using a standard 308L electrode. Weld quality i.e. ultimate tensile strength, toughness, microhardness, and microstructure of AISI 304 were examined. Microstructures of welded joints were studied using sca...

Effect of Post-weld Heat Treatment on Joint Properties of Dissimilar Friction Stir Welded AA2024 and AA7075 Aluminum Alloys

In present study, the effect of heat treatment after friction stir welding dissimilar welds T6-7075 and T4-2024 aluminum alloys were investigated. Friction stir welding was performed at a constant rotation speed of 1140 rpm and welding speed 32 mm/min. After welding samples are taken under various heat treatment processes at different aging temperature and time period. Microstructural observati...
